COVID-19 online sessions
During this pandemic, we want you to know that we continue to be here for you. Since mid-March of 2020, Align Counseling Center has been offering virtual sessions online via HIPAA compliant, private and secure platform. And will continue to do so throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
Recently, life has quickly and dramatically changed for many of us given social distancing regulations. For some, spending more time at home has felt like a relief or even a much needed break. Others have experienced restlessness, anxiety and feelings of isolation. None of these responses is wrong. In these times of uncertainty, no matter the response, it can provide tremendous comfort to seek the help of a mental health professional. How does online therapy work?
It is very easy, and no code or password is required. Your therapist will email you a link to our HIPAA compliant, private and secure platform. At the start of your appointment time, simply click on that link and you will be taken to a virtual waiting room where your therapist will connect with you and begin your online session.
Why online sessions?
Online sessions are done with the safety and health of our clients in mind. What are some of the benefits?
- Comfort and privacy- online sessions are done from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
- Time and traffic- you don’t have to drive to and from the office or have to deal with heavy traffic.
- You will not have to worry about sitting in a waiting room with other people, entering an office in which others have been before you or navigating the six feet apart social distancing precautions.
- Access to an experienced mental health professional is a click away.
What if my home is not conducive to doing online sessions?
Some clients don’t have a private space in their home to speak to a therapist without having to edit what they say. Please keep in mind that online sessions can be done from any device, even from the comfort of a car or from an area outside. If online video sessions are not feasible for you, please know that we also offer phone sessions.
Are there restrictions to doing sessions online?
Yes. This practice is only able to offer online sessions to Colorado residents. This is because we are licensed in the State of Colorado and thus cannot work with clients who live out of state. That said, we are grateful for the opportunity to work with Colorado residents who live anywhere in the state- whether the Denver area or outside of Denver anywhere in Colorado from the mountains to the great plains!
What if I would prefer in person sessions? Should I wait to schedule?
While wanting to meet in person is preferable to many people, it is unclear for how long social distancing regulations and guidelines will be recommended. The health and safety of our clients have to be the most important considerations during this pandemic. Online sessions are a way for us to see and to hear one another. They provide the best way to stay connected in times that can feel very isolating. And they prevent any inadvertent or passive spread of COVID-19 that could occur in office sessions conducted in person.
Can I continue online sessions after the pandemic?
Absolutely! Some clients may wish to continue online sessions indefinitely for comfort and convenience sake. This is an option that we will offer to all clients who prefer to continue doing online sessions, even after the pandemic has passed.
